High quality early learning is especially important during the first five years of a child’s development. Settings such as these lead to many positive outcomes in life – healthier lifestyles, positive self-esteem and social interactions, increased educational attainment, and even more successful careers.
Infants – babies from birth to 18 months – learn so much in such a short period of time. Equipped with solid understanding of child development, our educators will help to build upon your child’s learning through their nurturing relationship with your child.
Take a look at how we plan to meet the needs of your infant:
Language & Literacy
At Laugh & Learn ELCC our daily routines, interactions, activities, and the physical environment rich in print promote language and literacy.
Starting from infants we begin to implement the use of Sign Language as one way of communication. We employ the use of verbal expressions, facial expressions, and we label our actions as we communicate with each infant.
Regular communication, by describing what is happening throughout the day, will help your infant to build lifelong language skills.
Math & Numeracy
We ensure that as educators we take advantage of the immense opportunities we have to communicate even the most basic knowledge of math concepts and processes. For instance, to promote the understanding of number and operations, an educator may enthusiastically say to an infant: “You have two hands, and so do I!”
Essentially, our educators talk math with infants as a matter of routine in order to enrich their everyday learning experiences!
Grace & Courtesy
For infants who have yet to develop verbal communication, our educators use sign language and verbal communication to encourage manners such as “Thank you”, and “You’re welcome”.
The only way for your child to learn how to behave is by observing and modeling it. Therefore, our educators model respect and courtesy to all the children and adults.
Social & Emotional
Infants learn and value who they are by the way they are treated. To nurture confident individuals, and to help them develop strong social and emotional skills, Laugh & Learn ELCC educators:
- Provide responsive care;
- Support developing skills, and are;
- Affectionate and nurturing.
At this crucial stage in their development, your infant’s social interaction skills, and emotional and language development are nurtured through their relationships with others in the classroom, and through open-ended inquiry based play. In addition to this, our educators build trust by responding quickly to your infant’s needs.
Science & Exploration
At Laugh & Learn ELCC we believe that science is not just a body of knowledge… it’s a way of thinking and exploring the world! If science is nurtured in the early years, it can lead to a lifelong love of discovery and exploration. For instance, infants begin to learn about science through concepts like:
- Object Permanence – the idea that objects exist even when not in sight
- Cause and Effect – actions make other actions happen
- Spatial Awareness – the environment is three-dimensional and has a top, bottom, and side.
Physical Development & Wellness
Your baby looks, smells, hears, sees, tastes, and touches to learn about the world around them! We will give your infant space and opportunity to enhance their mobility, and to foster their growing independence.
Music & Creative Expression
By exposing your child to an assortment of cultural music and musical genres, Laugh & Learn ELCC promotes language development, rhythm awareness, self-regulation, and self-concept. Providing your infant with experiences through different mediums of creative expressions will promote self-expression and individuality.
