In a high quality preschool classroom children develop positive relationships with each other and their educators. In our preschool classroom, your child will build new understandings from existing ideas and concepts. There’s a new world for them to discover!
Take a look at how we plan to meet the needs of your preschooler:
Language & Literacy
Your preschoolers growing communication skill will continue to assist her in developing and learning new concepts.
Your child will be given more opportunities to develop language as they listen to and speak with others, share information, ideas, and feelings with others. Their language skills will be further supported by the introduction of new words and concepts, and the encouragement of using more detailed sentences.
Math & Numeracy
In the preschool classroom the possibilities for learning math are endless! Your child and their educators can now have more complex conversations about math and numbers during play, mealtimes, and even while exploring outside.
A wide range of mathematical manipulatives and an environment rich in learning experiences that cultivate number recognition, graphing, counting, shape recognition, ordering/classifying, one-to-one correspondence, and even measurement, will be for sure bring out the mathematician in your little one!
Grace & Courtesy
At Laugh & Learn ELCC, grace and courtesy is more than just “sharing”. It’s about taking responsibility for our actions, being kind to one another, and showing respect to others and the environment.
Greeting friends and educators, walking around a group of engaged peers, speaking quietly indoors, and waiting quietly rather than interrupting, are all examples of meaningful grace and courtesy skills. Here are some more skills that your child will learn in their preschool classroom, and at Laugh & Learn ELCC:
- Be kind to one another
- Use a quiet voice in the classroom
- Use materials carefully
- Walk in the classroom.
- Put your work away when you are finished with it
- Push your chair in when you are finished engaging at a table
- Respect everyone in the classroom and allow others to engage without interruption
Social & Emotional
In the preschool classroom, your child will begin to learn how to vocalize her own feelings and the feelings of others with their own expressed “I” messages. As their vocabulary continues to develop at a rapid speed, conflict resolutions skills are put to use.
Our educators will assist your child in managing, recognizing, and vocalizing their own feelings and behaviours, while also encouraging and providing opportunities for them to try new challenges and to display persistence in order to build upon their self esteem.
Science & Exploration
Your child now asks lots of questions about the world! Our educators will encourage your child to be curious, make discoveries, and to think critically and scientifically about their surroundings.
In the preschool classroom, our educators will use your child’s motivation and interest to explore various scientific concepts and ideas. In this way, your preschooler will practice important scientific reasoning while developing a disposition for inquiry and learning. Weekly science experiences will also give your child an opportunity to observe, question, and predict what might happen.
Physical Development & Wellness
As a preschooler your child’s ability to discover, trust their bodies and capabilities, and display confidence to play and work cooperatively with peers increases tenfold. This is a time of constant movement, as we are sure you have noticed!
Our educators are intentional and purposeful in planning activities that will enable your child to develop and refining their motor skills, and introduce them to a active and healthy lifestyle.
Music & Creative Expression
Music and creative expression helps young children to develop emotionally, socially, creatively, and even cognitively.
As we fulfill our promise to inspire and nurture your child’s inner spirit, we will support their desire to create, express, and perform. Our educators will build on your child’s natural curiosities, in order to spark their imagination, and to provide opportunities for verbal, creative, and physical expression.
